Northern Care Alliance Governor Elections

THE Northern Care Alliance NHS Group Council of Governors Elections have opened and the organisation is looking for dedicated Trust members who are passionate about health and social care to join the council as public Governors.

The Northern Care Alliance brings together Salford Royal Hospitals, with Pennine Acute Hospitals and runs Fairfield Hospital and at the moment North Manchester hospital. From 1 July 2019 it also runs community health services in Bury.

Governors are the direct representatives of staff and public member interests. They play an important role in making sure that health and social care services continue to improve. Governor’s responsibilities include representing the interests of members and the public as a whole, contributing to future plans, holding non-executive directors to account for the performance of the Board and appointing the chairman and non-executive directors.

The Group’s Council of Governors is made up of 17 public Governors and 12 staff Governors who represent the interests of its 27,000 members and local communities. It comprises all Salford Royal Governors and elected shadow Governors from the Pennine Acute Trust constituencies (Oldham, Bury & Rochdale and North Manchester).

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group is holding elections for eight public Governor vacancies in the following public constituencies:

  • Salford (2 seats)
  • Rest of England and Wales (2 seats)
  • Bury & Rochdale (2 seats)
  • Oldham (1 seat)
  • North Manchester (1 seat)

Staff Governors also needed

The Northern Care Alliance employs 19,000 staff and is also looking to elect six staff Governors.

There are currently vacancies for six staff Governors; two for Salford Care Organisation (one seat for Surgery & Neurosciences and one seat for Clinical Support Services and Tertiary Medicine), one for Oldham Care Organisation, one for Bury & Rochdale Care Org and two for North Manchester Care Org.
