Bury’s heart health heroes to represent North West in NHS Parliamentary Awards

by prestwichfocus on 15 July, 2019

A partnership between health commissioners, hospital, community and GP services in Bury has been announced as one of 10 North-West champions for the prestigious NHS Parliamentary Awards, which celebrate outstanding health and care staff.

Bury Integrated Community Cardiology Pilot is a partnership between Bury Clinical Commissioning Group, Bury and Rochdale Care Organisation (part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group) and Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and was named the North-West winner of the Excellence in Health Care Award.

Bury’s community cardiology service model was developed in partnership to improve access and outcomes for patients with a range of cardiovascular conditions. The development saw waiting times improve, reduced referral to treatment times, treatment closer to home, and a range of other benefits for patients and those working in cardiology services across Bury. Its success is being presented as a model of good practice for other NHS services around Greater Manchester to follow.

The regional champions will now go head to head with other winners from across the country for a national award to be presented at a special ceremony in the House of Commons on 10 July.

Launched in March, the NHS called on MPs to find and nominate those individuals or teams they thought have made the biggest improvements to health and care services in their constituencies across ten categories.
