Parklife – how was it for local residents?

by prestwichfocus on 12 June, 2019

Parklife weekend is over for another year (although we have one more separate concert this Saturday – the Courteeners on 15 June 2019).

Your local councillors we are keen to get feedback from residents about the weekend, and also your ideas on things that could be done differently in the future, so that we can feed back to the event organisers and Heaton Park management when we meet with them over the summer.

If you could take a few minutes to complete the survey here.

I realise that Heaton Park is a large public space but it is in the middle of an excellent suburb of Manchester. To have some drunk individual urinating in my street before even getting to the concert is appalling. It is time to put a stop to Parklife and hold it in a field on the outskirts of Manchester rather than desecrating a perfectly good and well kept suburb where people take pride in their surroundings.

I feel Park Life was very well controlled by the authorities this year considering the large area involved but I also feel a concert such as this magnitude should be held away from residential areas. Whilst these concerts may be a source of revenue to the council’s concerned, we the general public aren’t able to go about our general everyday routines, many roads are closed and public transport is taken up by thousands of visitors, I feel this is unacceptable and am sure others must feel the same, surely these concerts could be held in more suitable area that wouldn’t impose so much inconvenience to surrounding residents.

I have already done your survey about what it is like living in a Public Urinal for a weekend.
